One of the most valuable aspects of the Opportunity Zone has been the feedback we get — the good and the bad.

In response to a comment I received this week that this blog isn't quite what it used to be, I'd like to share with you what's been happening behind the scenes.

In a nutshell, this blog is changing.

The first change relates to me personally.  I left Amway Global/North America last May for a position in our global corporate PR group.  Because of this, I'm no longer an "Amway Global Insider" but an "Amway Insider" with more of a worldwide view.  Because I'm not sitting in our North American affiliate I'm not as tuned in to what's happening there day-to-day.  In fact, I'm in more frequent contact with colleagues in Japan and Korea than I am with those who work three miles down the street at Amway Global.  So while there's been "insider" information I would have loved to share, if it didn't pertain to the North American market, I've kept mum or taken the story over to Amway Media Blog.

The second change relates to where this blog lives and what it covers.

Like me, this blog will be moving from the North American Opportunity Zone to a global home.  In the coming months you'll see Amway Global Insider become Amway Insider and focus more on what's happening with our company around the world.

We're still shaping the format and content, which creates the opportunity for you to tell me what you think the new Amway Insider should be.  What do you want to hear about?  Considering that we offer dozens of brands in dozens of markets, there's a lot for us to cover. Tell me what you want to hear.

And my voice will probably be only one of several at Amway Insider.  Who else do you want to hear from?

Let me know what you think.  And thanks in advance for your help in creating the new Amway Insider blog.

ADA — Amway is donating $100,000 to disaster relief efforts in Haiti — as well as matching contributions its employees and distributors make through its Web site amway.com.

The Ada-based direct seller says its initial $100,000 donation will be split between the American Red Cross and SOS Children’s Village.

“We are fully committed to offering assistance quickly and meaningfully,” said Jim Hunking, managing director of Amway operations in the Caribbean.

While Amway doesn’t have offices in island nation, the company does have few hundred distributors — also know as Independent Business Owners — there selling products through its Amway Global division.

Amway is checking on the welfare of those distributors and their families, the company said.

“Our hearts go out to the victims, and we will be there to help Haiti recover from this tragedy and put the country back together.”

“Stuff a bag – help a child!” was the motto for the Amway One by One Campaign for Children volunteer opportunity during the annual Achievers recognition trip. Over a three-day period, Amway Global Independent Business Owners (IBOs) took a time-out from meetings, events, and training to stuff 2,500 bags that will be given to children who may not get a gift this holiday season.

As part of its One by One Campaign for Children, Amway Global donated $1.0 million in product to NBC’s TODAY Show Toy Drive via a direct selling industry effort to provide holiday gifts for thousands of children nationwide. Amway Global’s gift includes cosmetics, skin care, personal care, fragrances and jewelry, items aimed at teen and pre-teen girls – one of the groups often forgotten during holiday giving drives. Amway Global’s donation is being shipped to 20 non-profit organizations across the country for delivery to disadvantaged children and families, providing in many cases the only gifts some children and teens may receive this holiday season.
